Beth, first, thank you for getting this rolling.
This is why I use google: simplicity and accuracy. I'm not sure there is another search engine that can give me accurate results in as simple a format that google presents. ChaCha.com seems great, but do I have time to personally chat with an on-line search engine employee? Who is that on the other end anyhow

Good point! Knowing the source of your information is key in the information world. How authoritative, accurate, comprehensive, current, and objective is the source?
Like you, I go to Google if I think I can nail the needle in the haystack, e.g. Nikki Giovanni's funeral address at Virginia Tech. If I am looking for scholarly, published content; however, I start in a database.
